Ball State University Hires Creationist Astronomy Professor

This one has me scratching my head. Ball State University has just hired an Astronomy Professor who was denied tenure at Iowa State over several of his ‘theories’. This Professor is a staunch believer of intelligent design, and also a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, a think tank that supports the theory of intelligent design.

I’m left asking myself why Ball State would think its a fantastic idea to open the door of creationism being taught in science courses. This comes after Ball State has agreed with several academic societies that intelligent design is ‘not appropriate’ for science courses. That being the case, then why is an individual who strongly supports intelligent design being welcomed into the Astronomy Department?

Some call it strange. I call it par for the course….
