First Weapons Load Verification For F-35A

Last week, members of Eglin Air Force Base’s 33rd Maintenance Group took part in the first weapons load verification on the F-35A. This is an important step forward for the F-35A. Information learned will be used to develop and validate loading procedures. Loading verification was performed for GPS and laser guided bombs, as well as air-to-air missiles. Navy Captain Lance Massey II, commanding officer of the 33rd Maintenance Group, had much to say after the event.

“Watching our weapons troops verify loading procedures was like getting a glimpse into the future. Ultimately, this will be the work that is performed down range when it counts, and we are laying that foundation here at Eglin. The stealth capability on the F-35 is beyond incredible, but the weapons capability rounds out the whole purpose of the joint strike fighter.” Captain Massey is quoted as saying.

One step closer to initial operating capability!
